Multimodal Emotion Recognition in Conversation (ERC) plays an influential role in the field of human-computer interaction and conversational robotics since it can motivate machines to provide empathetic services. Multimodal data modeling is an up-and-coming research area in recent years, which is inspired by human capability to integrate multiple senses. Several graph-based approaches claim to capture interactive information between modalities, but the heterogeneity of multimodal data makes these methods prohibit optimal solutions. In this work, we introduce a multimodal fusion approach named Graph and Attention-based Two-stage Multi-source Information Fusion (GA2MIF) for emotion detection in conversation. Our proposed method circumvents the problem of taking heterogeneous graphs as input to the model. To this end, in the proposed framework, the teacher learning-based optimization is utilized to efficiently solve the scheduling problem in the system. Moreover, a deep learning model based on bidirectional long short-term memory is proposed to address the short-term wind power forecasting problem. Perception systems for autonomous driving have seen significant advancements in their performance over last few years. However, these systems struggle to show robustness in extreme weather conditions because sensors like lidars and cameras, which are the primary sensors in a sensor suite, see a decline in performance under these conditions. In order to solve this problem, camera-radar fusion systems provide a unique opportunity for all weather reliable high quality perception. Cameras provides rich semantic information while radars can work through occlusions and in all weather conditions. In this work, we show that the state-of-the-art fusion methods perform poorly when camera input is degraded, which essentially results in losing the all-weather reliability they set out to achieve. Manufacturing of these turbines involves assembling of gigantic sized components. Due to the frequent design changes and the variety of tasks involved, conventional automation is not possible making it a labor-intensive activity. However the handling and assembling of large components are challenging the human capabilities. The article proposes the use of mobile robotic assistants for partial automation of wind turbines manufacturing. The robotic assistant can result into reducing production costs, and better work conditions. Uncalibrated photometric stereo is proposed to estimate the detailed surface normal from images under varying and unknown lightings. Recently, deep learning brings powerful data priors to this underdetermined problem. This paper presents a new method for deep uncalibrated photometric stereo, which efficiently utilizes the inter-image representation to guide the normal estimation. Previous methods use optimization-based neural inverse rendering or a single size-independent pooling layer to deal with multiple inputs, which are inefficient for utilizing information among input images. Given multi-images under different lighting, we consider the intra-image and inter-image variations highly correlated. 05:12 Arxiv.org CS Activity Detection in Distributed MIMO: Distributed AMP via Likelihood Ratio Fusion. (arXiv:2208.03070v1 [cs.IT])

We develop a new algorithm for activity detection for grant-free multiple access in distributed multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO). The algorithm is a distributed version of the approximate message passing (AMP) based on a soft combination of likelihood ratios computed independently at multiple access points. The underpinning theoretical basis of our algorithm is a new observation that we made about the state evolution in the AMP. Specifically, with a minimum mean-square error denoiser, the state maintains a block-diagonal structure whenever the covariance matrices of the signals have such a structure. We show by numerical examples that the algorithm outperforms competing schemes from the literature.

In this paper, we present our solutions for the Multimodal Sentiment Analysis Challenge (MuSe) 2022, which includes MuSe-Humor, MuSe-Reaction and MuSe-Stress Sub-challenges. The MuSe 2022 focuses on humor detection, emotional reactions and multimodal emotional stress utilising different modalities and data sets. In our work, different kinds of multimodal features are extracted, including acoustic, visual, text and biological features. These features are fused by TEMMA and GRU with self-attention mechanism frameworks. In this paper, 1) several new audio features, facial expression features and paragraph-level text embeddings are extracted for accuracy improvement. 2) we substantially improve the accuracy and reliability for multimodal sentiment prediction by mining and blending the multimodal features. 3) effective data augmentation strategies are applied in model training to alleviate the problem of sample imbalance and prevent the model form learning biased subject characters. As a study on the efficient usage of data, Multi-source Unsupervised Domain Adaptation transfers knowledge from multiple source domains with labeled data to an unlabeled target domain. However, the distribution discrepancy between different domains and the noisy pseudo-labels in the target domain both lead to performance bottlenecks of the Multi-source Unsupervised Domain Adaptation methods. In light of this, we propose an approach that integrates Attention-driven Domain fusion and Noise-Tolerant learning (ADNT) to address the two issues mentioned above. Firstly, we establish a contrary attention structure to perform message passing between features and to induce domain movement. Through this approach, the discriminability of the features can also be significantly improved while the domain discrepancy is reduced. Deep learning-based methods have been studied for medical image registration, which leverage convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for efficiently regressing a dense deformation field from a pair of images. However, CNNs are limited in its ability to extract semantically meaningful intra- and inter-image spatial correspondences, which are of importance for accurate image registration. This study proposes a novel end-to-end deep learning-based framework for unsupervised affine and diffeomorphic deformable registration, referred as ACSGRegNet, which integrates a cross-attention module for establishing inter-image feature correspondences and a self-attention module for intra-image anatomical structures aware. A new method for multimodal sensor fusion is introduced. The technique relies on a two-stage process. In the first stage, a multimodal generative model is constructed from unlabelled training data. In the second stage, the generative model serves as a reconstruction prior and the search manifold for the sensor fusion tasks. The method also handles cases where observations are accessed only via subsampling i.e. compressed sensing. We demonstrate the effectiveness and excellent performance on a range of multimodal fusion experiments such as multisensory classification, denoising, and recovery from subsampled observations.

Efficiently exploiting multi-modal inputs for accurate RGB-D saliency detection is a topic of high interest. Most existing works leverage cross-modal interactions to fuse the two streams of RGB-D for intermediate features' enhancement. In this process, a practical aspect of the low quality of the available depths has not been fully considered yet. In this work, we aim for RGB-D saliency detection that is robust to the low-quality depths which primarily appear in two forms: inaccuracy due to noise and the misalignment to RGB. To this end, we propose a robust RGB-D fusion method that benefits from (1) layer-wise, and (2) trident spatial, attention mechanisms. On the one hand, layer-wise attention (LWA) learns the trade-off between early and late fusion of RGB and depth features, depending upon the depth accuracy. Multi-view clustering (MVC) optimally integrates complementary information from different views to improve clustering performance. Although demonstrating promising performance in various applications, most of existing approaches directly fuse multiple pre-specified similarities to learn an optimal similarity matrix for clustering, which could cause over-complicated optimization and intensive computational cost. In this paper, we propose late fusion MVC via alignment maximization to address these issues. To do so, we first reveal the theoretical connection of existing k-means clustering and the alignment between base partitions and the consensus one. Based on this observation, we propose a simple but effective multi-view algorithm termed LF-MVC-GAM. It optimally fuses multiple source information in partition level from each individual view, and maximally aligns the consensus partition with these weighted base ones.
